Robert Radau recently contacted us to let us know that his father, Walter Johannes Radau, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Dunedin Florida.
He was a founding member of the Foehrer Musik Freunde and played trumpet, coronet, and flugelhorn during his 20+ years with the group.
Ruhe in Frieden
Tom Hacker (Director)
In 1967, a common bond brought together 14 men with a plan that started from nothing more than the love of the German folk and brass music of their homeland. These men wanted to continue playing the music and to keep alive the German musical tradition that they enjoyed in Germany; that first meeting lead to the formation of the Foehrer Musik Freunde.
Since that time our members have dedicated themselves to keeping that sound alive. We are proud to say that many of these original musicians are still playing with the band today. Our current group of musicians comes from various nationalities and spans three generations. We all share the same love for the music and its traditions.
It is with great pride that we have spread our Gemütlichkeit at many festivals in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida and Germany.
Keeping brass band music (Blasmusik) alive....one fest at a time!
